Loch Leven

Brimming with colours and melodic rhythms of stitches, Loch Leven is a Fair Isle pullover with a relaxed fit. It's a modified drop-shoulder pullover with slight dolman shaping in the underarm. Worked bottom up and in the round to the armholes where two options are given, either continue across the armholes in-the-round with steeks or work across the armholes flat with no steeks. After the armholes, decreases shape the shoulder while you work in the round to the neck shaping and then continue flat as you shape the neck. Stitches are picked up around the neckline and the collar is continued in the round and folded to create a sturdy double layer. Stitches are picked up around the armholes, several short rows are worked to angle the sleeves and remove excess fabric at the underarm, and then the sleeves are worked in the round to the desired length.

Size A: 3.5mm (US 4) needles of varying lengths

Size B: 4mm (US 6) needles of varying lengths

You will also need: circular needle that is 2 to 3 sizes smaller than your size A needle for picking up stitches around the armholes; spare needles, scrap yarn, or interchangeable cables for holding sts, stitch markers, and removable markers. If steeking the armholes, you will also need scissors to cut the steeks.
