Wabana is pattern #9 of Landed, Volume 1: The Avalon, Timeless Lace and Stranded Knitting Patterns for the Adventurous Handknitter.

Wabana

Wabana is a saddle shoulder cardigan with drapey open fronts and deep cavernous pockets. Starting at the back hem, the sweater body is worked up to the shoulders then down the front, ending at the front hem. The pocket linings are worked at the same time as the back body and the stranded pocket edgings are worked after the front body is bound off at the hem. The front and back are joined at the underarm when the sleeve stitches are picked up around the armscyes. Short rows shape the set-in sleeve caps and the sleeves are worked down to the cuffs. The front and back are joined at the hem when the hem stitches are picked up and shaped with short rows down to the front tips.

The main feature of this cool cardi is the stranded pockets edgings. They are worked entirely in the round with no steeks (!) to form a double layer at the pockets opening.

Wabana is part of the Landed series, Volume 1. You can find Volume 1 here: Landed, Volume 1: The Avalon, Timeless Lace and Stranded Knitting Patterns for the Adventurous Handknitter
