Juniper Brook

Juniper Brook is a top-down dolman with never a dull moment in this construction. The textured eyelet pattern is easy to memorise and the colourwork is mosaic. The upper body is worked flat to the underarms, the sleeves are closed, and then the lower body is worked in the round.

I chose these colours of Haven for exactly what I had in mind, a knit to remind me of the striking year-round colour of the hardy juniper bushes beside a babbling brook, the thought of which brightens even the darkest and greyest of days.

Designed using Reywa Fibers Haven, an extraordinary and soft 100% Tibetan Yak down. Reywa Fibers is offering 15% off purchases of 4+ (4 or more) skeins using the coupon code JUNIPERBROOK on their website Reywa Fibers. Offer valid through January 3, 2023.

Gauges

Eyelet: 23 st and 37 rows to 10cm / 4” of Chart A with size A needles after blocking (or needle size required to match gauge).

Mosaic: 23 st to 10cm / 4” and 16 rows to 3.5cm / 1.25” of Chart B with size B needles after blocking (or needle size required to match gauge).

Needles & Notions

The gauge was achieved with the following needle sizes. To work the pattern as written, you must swatch and use a needle size that will result in the correct gauge after blocking. I do tend to knit loosely so you may likely need a larger needle size.

Size A: 3mm (US 2.5) various lengths for the eyelet patterning.

Size B: 4mm (US 6) various lengths for the mosaic bands.

You will also need: spare needles, interchangeable cables, or scrap yarn for holding stitches, stitch markers, removable markers.
