Conche

Conch are some of the most beautiful creatures of the sea, but the most beautiful might be the ones with psuedoconch -- the Sea Butterfly. This enormous wrap is worked in one piece; after the first half is complete, stitches are picked up to work the second half. Pattern is written so that you can either 1) work the stranded colourwork in the round with a steek, or 2) work the stranded colourwork flat with no steek. After the entire body of the wrap is complete, unique applied edging is worked around the entire outer perimeter.

Needles and Notions

The gauges were achieved with the following needle sizes. To work the pattern as written, you must swatch and use a needle size

that will result in the correct gauge after blocking.

Size A: 3.25mm (US 3) 100cm / 40” for mesh and single-colour stockinette sections.

Size B: 3.75mm (US 5) 100cm / 40” colourwork sections. Note: if your gauge does not normally change between colourwork and single-colour stockinette then you will use size A needles for the colourwork rnds.

You will also need: spare needles or interchangeable cables for holding stitches, stitch markers, removable markers.
