GAUGES
To find your needle size, you need to swatch. If you don’t know whether your stitch gauge changes between single-colour stockinette and stranded colourwork, then you should swatch for both.
Stockinette: 17 sts / 23 rnds to 10cm / 4” using size A needles.
Stranded Colourwork: 17 sts / 17 rnds to 10cm / 4” using size B needles.
NEEDLES & NOTIONS
The gauges were achieved with the following needle sizes. To work the pattern as written, you must swatch and use a needle size that will result in the correct gauge after blocking. Note that the pattern is written assuming that the knitter needs to use a larger needle for stranded colourwork. If your gauge does not change between single-colour stockinette and stranded knitting, then you don’t need to change needle sizes.
Size A: 5.5mm (US 9) circular needles of varying lengths for single-colour stockinette
Size B: 6mm (US 10) circular needles of varying lengths for stranded colourwork
You will also need: spare interchangeable cables, spare needles or scrap yarn for holding stitches; stitch markers.
